Travel Signature Days

OISS Prepares for All-Day Travel Signatures with the #mannequinchallenge

If you are planning to travel outside the U.S. over winter break, you should have your I-20 or DS-2019 signed for travel by OISS prior to your travels. Having the proper travel signature will help prevent being delayed by Customs and Border Patrol upon re-entry to the U.S.

In order to accommodate all of the students who will be traveling abroad over Winter break, OISS will be providing three days of “All-Day Travel Signatures” this semester:

  • Friday, December 2nd, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, December 9th, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday, December 16th, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

On these days students can bring their I-20 or DS-2019 to the OISS office at Stix International House and have it signed for travel while they wait. The whole process usually takes around five minutes. (On any other day, students needing a travel signature would need to drop off their I-20 or DS-2019 and then return to pick up the signed document after three business days.)

For several years now OISS has been providing this service at the end of both Fall and Spring semester. We generally get a few hundred students coming in for travel signatures on these days, and we had so many students last year that we added a third day this semester.

To make sure that we are ready for All-Day Travel Signatures and to show students what to expect, the staff at OISS have taken on the mannequin challenge. See the video below:
