Five Holiday-Themed Activities Happening Close to Campus Over Winter Break

If you plan on staying at WashU over winter break, you won’t have to go far from campus to enjoy some of the great holiday activities that St. Louis has to offer:

Ice Skating at Steinberg Rink in Forest Park— the largest outdoor ice-skating rink in the U.S.
Address: 400 Jefferson Drive (in Forest Park by the Science Center)
Admission: $7 all-day admission + $6 skate rental=$13 total
Days and Hours of Operation: November 10 – March 18; Open Sun-Thurs: 10am-9pm & Fri-Sat: 10am-midnight; Extended Holiday hours, November 22-25 & December 22-January 7: 10am-midnight; Open on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day

Central West End Holiday Window Walk – Enjoy holiday festivities while viewing holiday-themed window displays elegantly-decorated by the businesses of the Central West End.
Address: In the Heart of the Central West End, the corner of Maryland Plaza and Euclid Avenue and surrounding streets.
Admission: Free
Days and Hours of Operation: Saturdays, December 2, 9, 16, & 23 from 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Wild Lights at the St. Louis Zoo—Walk through St. Louis Zoo after dark and enjoy over half a million holiday lights on display.
Address:  1 Government Drive (In Forest Park by the Art Museum)
Admission: $8 admission Monday-Thursday, $10 Friday-Sunday
Days and Hours of Operation: Open select days until December 30: 5:30-8:30pm

Sledding on Art Hill—A long-running St. Louis tradition. Any time there is snow on the ground, St Louisans head to Forest Park to have fun sledding down the hill in front of the St. Louis Art Museum. Sleds are not provided but can be bought at fairly cheaply at many local stores during the winter season.
