Ask an OISS Advisor: OPT Fees

I’m graduating in December.  How much does it cost to apply for post-completion OPT?
by Martha Turner, Director, International Student and Scholar Advising

ANSWER: There is a $410 fee that must be submitted with the OPT application.  Students also need to obtain 2 passport photos which usually cost less than $10.  Additionally, OISS will begin charging a $150 OPT Administration fee that must be paid before OISS will issue the OPT I-20 required for the OPT application.

An increased volume of OPT applications, as well as changes in the STEM OPT regulations, additional government reporting requirements, and the need to maintain and update students records while on OPT necessitate this OPT administration fee.
