Welcoming Week 2017 Photo Challenge
by Desirée Waits, International Student and Scholar Advisor
The Office for International Students and Scholars is proud to participate in the annual Welcoming Week celebration organized by Welcoming America, a nonprofit organization that promotes community inclusiveness and raises awareness of the benefits of a welcoming environment for everyone. This year Welcoming Week is September 15 – 24, 2017, with local events being held in communities across the country.
To celebrate Welcoming Week 2017, the OISS will be hosting a Photo Challenge Around St. Louis. Participants are encouraged to take photos or selfies with the ‘I Am a Welcomer’ and ‘______ Welcomes You’ signs at famous landmarks and neighborhoods around St. Louis and post to their social media profiles and the WUSTL Office for International Students and Scholars Facebook page with #WelcomingWeek or #IWelcome. We hope to raise awareness of Welcoming Week on our campus and around the St. Louis Metropolitan area. The hope is that college students, staff/faculty, and campus partners will engage in the St. Louis community and promote it as a diverse and inclusive place that welcomes people from all backgrounds.
